I hate people!

I'm sorry for the rant but I just have to let this out. I'm so sick of people who think they know everything! I haven't lost any weight since November and I have always found it very hard to lose weight. I eat about 1400 calories a day and work out 5-6 days a week depending on how busy I am. Yet apparantly, the reason I'm not losing weight is becasue I don't want to. 1400 calories a day is far too much and if I cut that in half then I'd lose weight. When I point out that it is unhealthy to eat that few calories, I'm told that it is too few for a normal person but seeing as I'm fat and not losing weight it would be OK for me. I can lose weight if I want to, but apparantly I just don't want to and I'm not trying hard enough. I feel bad enough about my weight as it is without people trying to make me feel worse, and do they honestly think that belittling me is going to help me? I just feel like giving up to be honest.

There are lots of mean people out there but there are lots of supportive people too. Don't listen to the naysayers. Remember, people on here spout all sorts of crap without having a clue what they are talking about. However, there are some people who have some really good advice. DOn't let it get you down!0

The first thing is not to be discouraged. At the end of the day you are on this journey for yourself and not anyone else, well you should be!!
Maybe open your diary so we can see what kinds of foods you are eating? Also what is your BMR? 1400 cals should be fine for you especially if you are exercising that often so it's really strange that you haven't lost any weight yet.

Don't lose hope & don't use other peoples stupidity as an excuse to fail.
How much do you want/need to lose? For me, after the first few months of eating under 1600cals a day I wasn't losing. I started zigzagging (eating 14,000 cals a week but some days having 2100 some days 1600 etc) & I started losing again.
Personal feeling is that 1400 a day with all that exercise is probably not enough but only you know your body. Good luck with it & ignore those who say to eat less. My motto is eat more to lose more:)0 -
Don't give up. Have your thyroid checked, it can sometimes hinder weightloss. I find when I count calories I stress more so have decided to eat sensibly and not deprive myself. My weight stayed on because of stress. Keep going. Do what makes you feel good.Have you thought about a personal trainer? I would like one but cant afford one...:) I have been told to change the foods I eat every 3 weeks and to do the same with types of exercise every 6 weeks ...... what works for one person may not work for another soooooo ........but dont give up!!!!0

You know i sooo feel the same as you. I myself am stuck in a rut. I eat roughly 2000 calories a day but i workout all day long 5-6 days a week. I lost 14 lbs this last summer only to find myself put it back on and im completely stuck. But im not giving up.....i know that by doing so i will gain alot of weight really quick. I have come to the conclusion that i have to workout. Some people don't have to do much to loose weight, others have to fight everyday to just not gain anything. But i feel that as long as im making a concious effort everyday to make myself better that the weight will eventually fall off. It has to.....and forget what some negative people say.....you have to find the positive ones and stick with them. So add me if you want....i will be here to cheer you on!0

Thank you, I just get very frustrated when people are so rude. I do see a personal trainer, only a 2-3 times a month and I only started seeing her at Christmas but she makes a new plan for every 4-6 weeks. I do cardio (zumba, bodycombat), interval training and strenght and resistance training. She is very encouraging and just keeps telling me that everyone's body is different and I will get there in the end. I know who some of her clients are at the gym and they've all had great results.
Typically I eat protein shake for breakfast, soup or sald for lunch, then quorn, chicken or turkey with vegetables for dinner. For snacks I have apples, low fat natural yogurt, berries, carrot sticks with low fat hummous.
I have had my thyrois checked a couple of times and it's all normal. My Doctor has said to me that I'm very healthy for an overweight person- they only thing she would change is my weight. I know it's not easy but I just have to keep going! I've lost about 25 pounds and ideally would like to lose another 52, I'd be happy with 1 pound a week. I'm trying to focus on inches lost and body fat more now though. I don't want to be thin I just want to be smaller and healthier.0 -
Some people are just know-it-alls who really don't have a clue!
So, listen to me and I'll give the TRUTH.... Just kidding!
It sounds like the food you are eating is very healthy. And you are working out quite a lot.
1.) Do you have a kitchen scale at home to measure your food intake? Frequently people underestimate the amount of calories in whatever they are eating. I read a study about an obese woman who swore she only ate 2000 calories a day and wasn't losing any weight, yet when they actually measured her food they discovered it was actually like 3,500 calories a day.
2.) Plateaus are to be expected when you are losing fat but gaining muscle. Have you taken your measurements? I would be very surprised if your clothes aren't fitting better. Measuring is a better way to assess your progress, especially if you are doing lots of exercise.
3.) Weight will come off much more slowly as you get closer to your ideal.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll get lots of unsolicited advice! :bigsmile:0 -
I don't measure myself but I will start- I have gone down 2 dress sizes so just want to go down 2 more and I'd be happy. Also might start Jillian Michaels 30DS and I've read on hereit's meant to be good for losing inches. Thanks guys, you've made me feel better!0
