I am 45 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall and weigh 9 stones 13 pounds. I used to weigh 13 stones about 2 years ago so have lost a fair amount. My BMI is still showing me as overweight but I am finding that I have stuck at the same weight for at least 6 months. How do I know if my body should be at this weight? For my height I should only be about 8 stones but I think I would look ill if I got down to that weight. The question is should I just maintain this weight or reduce my calories to lose more??

My stats are very similar to you, I am 5ft 2ins, 39 years old (for another 5 weeks) and I started at 12 st 3 lbs two years ago. Last year I got down to 9st 12lbs and I was happy but still classed as overweight acording to BMI, i like you think 8 st would be too low, I think as we get older we need a little extra to pad out the wrinkles.
I would suggest that you decide if you are happy with how you look rather than whatthe scales say, my goal is to get under 10 st and see how I feel, i'd love to be 9 st 7 lbs but if I can't do it and i'm fit and healthy a few lbs heavier then so be it.

I know exactly what you mean. I now have spare empty skin which is not attractive. The only problem is I need a bit of a margin of error as in no time at all, if I take my eye of the ball for only a few days I start to creep up over 10 stones and got to 10 stone 3 over Christmas. My thinking is if I can get to 9 stone 7, I have room to pig out a little if I feel like it instead of this constant hunger on 1500 calories a day. How many calories do you have??
