I do the Insanity workouts and am trying to figure out how to determine calories burned? I am thinking of using the iFitness App to determine calories burned and then just manually enter it on MFP. I am new to this app and any advice on figuring caloric burn for any and all exercises is appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

Snag a Polar HRM off of Amazon, I got the FT7 and really like it so far.

I am just starting the Insanity workouts and was hoping for advice on the same topic. Not sure how to figure calories burned with this program. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  • In the first round, I burned about 300-350 per workout. It averages to about 100 calories for every 10 minutes (a little less than that). Unfortunatly, the only real way of knowing is to get a good heart rate moniter. The Polar brand is a favorite and works really well.

I'm on my second round of Insanity and I use Mio Classic Select Heart Rate Monitor Watch bought it on amazon in the $30s. I didn't want to spend to much on one and I like it, it does it's job. I manually log it in on MFP. These are my average calories burned for the first month. Keep in mind everyone is different. Hope it helps...

INSANITY: Plyometric Cardio Circuit 368 cals
INSANITY: Cardio Power & Resistance 350 cals
    INSANITY: Pure Cardio 450 cals
INSANITY: Core Cardio & Balance 300 cals
    INSANITY: Cardio Abs 98 cals
  • So, I went out and bought a Mio HRM after reading so many blogs about it (thank you). I got it set up and wanted to test it out to see how many calories I would burn doing the 30min Turbo Fire. Well, I was really disappointed. It only said I burnt 50 calories. Did I do something wrong? I'm new to this device and I know it was only 30min. But when I checked during the workout, my HR was at 174/91%. Any suggestions?

I have done the TF 20min workout and I burn around 175 cals. How many times did you check your HR? I check it a lot, and tend to wear the watch tight so it can read my HR better.
  • I checked it twice. I will try tightening the wrist band. Hopefully that will work.
