I just got a gym membership and I have been a few times already. What is my best way to get the best workout within an hour?

It just depends on what your goals are.

I burn about 500 calories in 45 minutes doing spinning. I burn about the same in an hour doing intervals on the treadmill.

If I want to do strength - I burn close to 375 calories an hour doing Body Pump or about 400 calories an hour doing strength training on my own.

Zumba gave me a good workout, but I just didn't enjoy it.

You have to find what you enjoy - group fitness, working out on your own, etc.

If you are brand new to a gym, it might be best to invest in a trainer for a couple of sessions. That way you become familiar with the equipemnt and they can build you a good routine. Tell the trainer what youa re wanting from them.

I am working out in gym from last 3 years and on the basis of my experience I would say best is first lay down what your goal is and what are the areas of your body you need to tone or reduce the size of.
If your aim is to build muscles then do more of muscle trainings and mix it up with cardio and strength
If your aim is to lose weight then do more of cardio and mix it up with little weights and strength training ..
I always design my workout for the week on Sunday evening and then work through it..
Its always good to keep changing the routine every two week and while doing the strength training or building muscles always try to do it alternate day so that it gets the rest of at least 48 hours.

Feel free to add me if you wanna see my workout regime. But I don't log the strength training in detail :-)
