NOT SURE WHERE TO START....

I workout frequently, and I want to start lifting weights. I have no idea what to do. I have absolutely NO arm strength, and I have knee problems that prevent me from doing a lot of lunges, squats, or heavy leg press.
What kind of workouts can I do to get stronger?
How heavy should I be lifting?
Thanks!!

I started with the weight machines at my gym building from 10-30lbs depending on the exercise and slowly increasing. Also, you can use arm weights when walking or doing at home work outs. I am slowly building my arm muscles as this was my weakest area as well.0
