A vent . . .

Please bear with me while I vent for a moment . . .
I work for a hospital in North Carolina . . . I won't say the name . . . but it's relatively small. We have "decent" benefits not great but I am happy to have them, believe me. I have a daughter who is autistic and suffers from depression, anxiety, ADD. Well, she was running low on her ADD meds so we were at the doctor yesterday and I requested a new RX - since this is a controlled substance the doctor cannot call or fax it in, I have to always get a hard copy. Yesterday was just our usual monthly appointment.
So I take the prescription to my "preferred" pharmacy (here at work) today and they do not have the meds in stock and they tell me they cannot even ORDER it. Their vendor doesn't carry it. This pharmacy is the ONLY preferred pharmacy there are no other pharmacies designated . . I mean, we can choose to go to another pharmacy but we pay a lot more out of pocket. So I took the RX to a chain drug store (CVS) and I found out the copay was going to be nearly triple what it would be if I were to get it filled at the "preferred" pharmacy. I called the insurance company expecting (hopefully) cooperation considering the situation, but I get the run-around instead and then, hey we'll research it but it could take up to 2-3 weeks. Hello?? My daughter is almost out of the meds and we can only get 30 days at a time.
So instead of working today, I have been running to two different pharmacies, waiting around, then I finally just went back to the doctor's office and asked him to prescribe something she had been on previously (better than nothing, anyways) that the "preferred" pharmacy does have in stock. How ridiculous.
Not only that, but our "preferred" pharmacy is a tiny little hole in the wall place (and I suspect that's why they keep such a short supply of RX's anyways) but their hours are weekdays only 9 am to 5 pm. No weekends, no evenings, no "on call", nada. If you need to get something filled on a weekend or evening you'd better hope it's a cheap med that's available at Target or Walgreens.
It's just so aggravating. : ( Guess it's time to find a new job maybe. Okay . . vent over.
By the way, the difference in copays was almost $100 . . preferred pharmacy $50, non-preferred out of network $140.
