Some of you may be plagued with stubborn weight gain, fatigue, headaches, cravings, savage hunger, etc. that you attribute to insulin resistance (or maybe other insulin problems that I am unaware of) and I would love to hear your thoughts on the issue. I know this is a broad topic and views are probably wide varied, but I think this is a discussion worth having. More and more scientists are pointing to certain sugars (fructose, mainly), as a toxin that has become the demise of modern health and it is simultaneously being linked to more and more health problems (cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, pcos, etc.)

What is the deal with insulin? Whether your trying to get your hormones in balances (yes you, PCOS sufferers) or your blood sugar levels in check (you too diabetics), insulin seems to be at the heart of these and other health problems. For this reason I have decided to look further into the sugar content of my own diet and try and understand if it could be the root of many of my problems (acne, fatigue, headaches). What better place to start than the myfitnesspal forums, where so many people are learning more about their bodies with their diet.

That in mind, I've decided to start looking into the content of my own diet a little further to see if limiting fructose (yes, the seemingly innocent corn derivative), and other sugars from my diet may help me. I've been off the myfitnesspal train for awhile now since I have been managing to keep my weight under control by eating well (enough), and exercising. However, I happen to suffer from PCOS and losing weight hasn't really made my symptoms any better. I have started to wonder if it is really the content of my diet that is causing my problems and not just my weight. myfitnesspal helped me lose 30 or so pounds by tracking my calories so I know it can help me similarly by tracking my sugar intake.

Any others doing the same? Any other thoughts?

With that I will leave you all with this 1 hour 29 minute science heavy video about fructose and the demise of the American diet. Over the next few days/weeks/months I'll update here about my findings and experiences here, and I hope others do too.
