I just finished reading Crazy Sexy Diet by Kriss Karr. The end result is to embark on a 21 day cleanse that celebrates our bodies as temples. I love that it includes not only info on the what to eat, but it also focuses on the physical and the emotional.

The food part looks simple enough. Juices, green smoothies, and whole grains with veggies steamed, mildly sauteed, or raw.
The physical is 35 min minimum 5 days a week.
Some of the optional is mediation, yoga, and positive self talk.

The promise of a revved up metabolism, increasing the efficiency of my muscles/energy, and releasing my inner glow has me super charged.

Any takers on taking this on group style?

I am interested. Tell me more info about the food part. What do you have to eat? What can you not eat? And when you say physical, you mean exercise Monday to Friday everyday for 35 minutes?

    Yeahhh! So Cool!

    here's a little more info...

The food is built around the concept of giving your digestive track a bit of a break so that your body can focus on cleaning the junk and toxins out. The focus is on vegetables, grains, and legumes. Organic when you can, while incorporating some raw so that your body has access to some real minerals and vitamins unaltered by heat. This is the part that revs up the metabolism and gets the body and weight a moving. The framework for the menu is...

Wake up to a cup of hot water with fresh squeeze lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and stevia to kick the metabolism in gear and to start sweeping up the toxins. Then breakfast would either be a juice blend of some kind or a smoothie made up of mostly vegetables with some fruit to sweeten. (I don't have a juicer myself, so I'll be blending.) The idea is to juice/smoothie it till noon so that your body stays in the cleanse phase from the repair work it does at night. Then lunch and dinner is 60 percent raw vegetables (like a salad) and 40 percent steamed lightly sauteed beans or more veggies (eggplant, yams, etc) or whole grains like quinoa, millet, etc.

The things that are eliminated are gluten, dairy, and meat.

I cater events and do some private chefing for some vegetarian clients. This vegan approach will be totally new to me. But we can work through it together. I have already compiled some pretty easy and tasty looking recipes.

Exercise is any 5 days, doesn't have to be order for 35 mins. Could be a walk, run, dancing, yoga... whatever keeps you moving at an elevated heart rate for 35 min.
