Any other horseback riders?

Thought I could use some extra friends for motivation! My husband and I are avid team ropers, but I have a background in everything from hunter jumpers to western pleasure to cutting to sorting, and everything in between! Our website is www.cookarena.net. I've actually already lost to my original goal wait (yeah!!) but have set a new stretch goal of 5 more pounds! Definitely credit MFP for teaching me to eat a lot better!

YES! I have three horses, and they are a blast. I'm lucky to own them. I have a Belgian Warmblood mare, an AQHA gelding, and a a TB/Arab/something else cross gelding. I ride mostly english, but the QH was trained western, so I do ride western with him.
Speaking of which, they haven't gotten a ride today...0 -
Not an avid roper, but I drag calves to the fire. My family raises quarter horses. I need to get with the program & lose some weight. Calving season alittle stressful:grumble:0

Horse riding is one of the reasons I'm on here. I was an avid rider for about 14 years, but I gained a TON of weight, lost my confidence and stopped completely. I plan to get back in the saddle when I reach my goal weight. I can't wait, I miss it so much.0

We love to rope---waiting for the season to start up again around here(still pretty cold and some snow) But we just installed a Buford electric dummy for family practice sessions, hubby, two teenage and myself
how stoked am I? We are gonna have a blast once the horses get over their horror of the Buford Monster...
We also have a ranch and will be revving for spring branding the first two weeks in May, come riding season the pounds will really roll off...I'm already looking forward to tying calves without that extra 36 lbs hanging off me...0 -
Elana - You're going to love your Buford! We have one of those too but it's currently out of commission... need to call Buford and get a new contactor for it. We mostly use our Sparky III roping machine anyway, but I'll be happy when Buford is back up and running. I won my first USTRC buckle in the #8 in Rainsville last year - hopefully will get some more this year, and we're going to rodeo a bit as well. We keep about 20 roping steers and are putting on a series at the house starting in March and can't wait. We've had a really mild winter here in Georgia so haven't slowed down except for the rain... we can usually ride colts in our arena after it rains but have to wait a few days to be able to turn left without slipping!
Thanks everyone for the welcome, and happy riding!!
