Logging Cardio

For those that use a machine for cardio (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, etc.), do you log the final calories burned as shown on the machine or do you use the calories that MFP calculates for you based on the time you were on the machine? It seems the machine's calorie count is always lower than what MFP calculates for me, so I always log the machine's count just to be safe.

Just wondering what others do.

I usually go in between the two results just to play it safe.

I use the ones the machine gives me. They're quite a bit lower than the ones MFP calculates, and seem to me to be more accurate. Maybe if I was able to work out at a considerably higher level...but I'm not.

I have a FitBit and just use that...unless MFP is higher than I just average it out

I have a HR monitor that calculates calories burned. It seems to run lower than the machine, so I feel most comfortable using the lower number.

I assume MFP is off by 30-40%.

I saw somewhere on a board that if you are using the elliptical, the calorie count for walking uphill, 3.5 mph is a pretty accurate count, so I have switched to that.

I eat around 200 calories of the exercise ones.
