1 lb vs 0.5 lb per week

I've seen several times that people have remarked when you have less to lose then you should decrease how much you want to lose per week.
Right now I have it set on 1 pound per week which gives me a net of 1370. I usually eat well over that... but I do work out and am somewhere around goal (+/- 200). While I'd like to see the scale go below 130, right now I'm really more concerned with losing inches and "tightening" things up. Do you think it would be a better idea to up my net calories (by decreasing to 0.5lbs per week) and eating more or just stay where I am?
I've been doing this since January and I've lost about 5 pounds (depending on the day) and 2 inches. I'm currently at 135ish.

Thanks for any help.

1 pound is truly for people starting off with 30, 50 or more pounds to lose! Not five! Cutie! You should definitely up your intake, you might even find you will lose quicker! :)

You only have 15 pounds to lose or er, 10 pounds now? That is not bad. You don't have much to lose. I hear the last 10 pounds is the hardest to lose. However, whatever you are doing right now seems to be working.

To lose inches and tighten things up, you have to hit the gym more and when you hit the gym more, you get more hungry so you eat more.

I say sure. I mean by doing all that you do lose weight more slowly because you are also gaining in muscle mass too.
  • Lose weight as slowly as you can afford to. If you really want that 1lb a week then I'm sure you can achieve it no problem but if you can wait then lose less.
