exercise routine without squats or lunges...

I am middle aged and have been teaching for 19 years. I have very alot of pain in my knees and can not do squats or lunges but would like to increase muscle building activity through the use of at home videos. I have a gym membership and access to public walking trails.
Can someone kindly help me to design or suggest a workout routine that will enable me to strength train with minimum impact on my knees.
