Does anyone know how to make them last longer than a few days? Every time I buy bananas they seem to go bad faster than we can eat them.

Put them in the fridge. The skin will go brown and look unpleasant but the inside will be perfectly fine.

seperate them from the bunch, and place them around a bowl so they dont touch , seems to work for me

Yeah - refrigerated bananas are yummy!

Another idea (longer term). Bananas freeze easily. Leave the peel on & just place them in a ziplock bag. When you thaw them, the texture is mush. They're perfect for cooking & blending.

Frozen banana slices can be added to fruit salads, just serve (almost) right away. Frozen grapes are yummy too!

I usually break up the banana bunches at the market and buy a couple that are ripe and ready to be eaten that day or the next, and then buy a few that are still green that will be ready to eat in a few days.

I buy the greenest ones they have. And stick to smaller bunches, only enough to last about a week, bc that is only about as long as they will last.

They do make bags or something that you can put them in that is SUPPOSED to help but I have never tried it.

I have bought the Debbie Meyer green bags and they only seem to work well with certain veggies or fruits.............bananas not being one of them.

However, I purchased these bags made by Hefty (Fresh Extend) and I have had GREAT luck with them. I have broccoli and cauliflower that has lasted almost a month (we got way too much in our produce basket and I had no one to give the extra too)

You can read about the Hefty Fresh Extend bags here............again, I have had better luck with these than those Debbie Meyer green bags.

I love to eat them fresh or frozen. Once they get too ripe I will peel what I have left and break them in half and line in tupperware and throw in the freezer. Eaten frozen they are like dessert. This is esp great for me since I cannot do dairy and this is my ice cream substitute.

Do you put all your fruit together? My mom told me a fact recently that I did not know! Apples apparently make other fruit go bad faster, so if you put all your fruit in a bowl, make sure to seperate the apples from everything else!

Can't help. Have 6 in the family, 3 of them teens. I go through 30 bananas in a week. Biggest problem is trying to keep a banana until it freckles because that's how I like them.
