Calling fitness experts...personalized workout?

Hi.
I can't afford a personal trainer. Is there a website or can someone explain how I can devise a workout plan specifically for my personal goals? I have read lots of posts, articles, websites, and so on. It's getting confusing and complicating. There are so many workouts, I have no clue what I should be doing to maximize my benefits.
I am doing couch2k - completed week 3 day 1 today. I also do yoga occasionally and use 10 lb weights for my upper body (around 3 days a week), lunges, squats, crunches ect for lower body (around 3 days a week). My calories are set to 1300, but if I am hungry and I am sure it is not because I am bored, then I eat - so I do go over by a few hundred calories on some days and once in a while I will go over A LOT.
I am 5'9 @163. My weight loss goal is around 10lbs, but I am more interested in getting fit. I have seen a fair amount of people saying they plan to tone up after they get closer to their goals...I don't understand this logic, can I not tone up now? (If it means losing weight slower, I am fine with that). Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
PS- I don't go to the gym - I work out at home, I have a treadmill and a few workout dvds/games. I am open to buying some other inexpensive equipment, but the gym is just not for me.
