Generally speaking it's fine. If it puts you over your calorie goal, that could be counterproductive.

What he said. The default protein goal for MFP is low. Dieters need more protein than RDA recomendations.

In my research lately I've found different views on this. There are those that feel there is only so much your body can process at once. Then there are those who don't believe there are any limits. If you research on the internet you will find stats for men and women who are trying to GAIN muscle, BUILD endurance and such. For example for men building muscle the recommended daily intake is 1-2 grams of protein per lean body weight. Also I learned there protein aborbs at different rates. Whey protein is the highest and aborbs the fastest, which is why most take it pre/post workouts. Protein from meats are utilized slower.

How much is going over? My target is 230 a day, sometimes I'm 150 sometimes I'm 300 grams. If you are over 10-20 grams per day I would not worry much.
  • Alright thank you! No i usually go over like 10- 20 but i'm under my goals for everything else, for calories and fat and carbs. I just didn't no if it was counterproductive to eat over the protein limit or if it was okay.
