How often do you adjust your weight on HRM?

I bought at Polar FT4 and have been using it for a week. Love it, by the way! Just curious - how often am I supposed to adjust my weight in the settings, as I lose the weight? I'm already 5 lbs down from my starting weight, so I adjusted my weight in the HRM to reflect that.

Do you adjust your weight every time you weigh in and your weight changes, once a week, etc? What have you been doing? Just need to make sure I continue to keep my HRM up to date with my info, so it calculates my calories burned accurately.

Thanks!

I adjusted mine every time that my weight went down... so pretty much once a week

That's what I was thinking. I think I'll update my weight on my HRM once a week, when I weigh in, and there's a change.

    Thanks for responding. :)

I'm not sure it makes that much difference if the weight loss is low.

For example, I've seen something that indicated that over the course of one hour, running a 11.5 minute mile, you burn about 4 Calories per pound. So for example, a person weighing 200 pounds would burn about 800 Calories running 5.2 miles in an hour. Running the same distance in the same time, a 198 pound person would burn 8 less Calories, or 792.

So should I wait till there is a bigger gap in my weight loss difference, like every 10 lbs lost?

I adjust mine every five pounds. Then I'm not fooling around with it all the time and I feel accomplished that I've lost five pounds so I get to update my HRM.

I got my HRM a several weeks backs. I started adjusting every 5 pounds in advance. By doing it advance, I figure I am actually burning a few more then reported when I just changed it and I don't see how that is a bad thing. That's like every 2 weeks at my current weight loss rate. I just don't want to fiddle with the hrm, put it on and get going! But that's just me.

Everytime my weight goes down, I change mine. I also always have it set for 1 pound lower than my actual weight (built in wiggle room)

Good advice here. When my weight changes, so will my HRM settings. :)

i keep mine set 10 lbs below my real weight.... that way i feel its more "accurate" and i don't overdo it and feel ok with eating back my calories
