Hey everyone,
I recently started training at a MMA gym about a month ago. I was wondering if anyone out there has any workout routines that will help with my strength and conditioning for this type of explosive energy sport. I've been trying to look on line for resources and haven't found much. I appreciate any help and tips.

Thanks,
Paul

Honestly, the best resource out there is Joel Jamieson for MMA training information. You can find out more about him at www.8weeksouts.com.

But the reality of the situation is that workouts need to be tailored to the needs of the fighter - his current strengths and weaknesses, his fighting style, the league he fights in, etc, etc.

For example... high intensity interval training is all the rave right now among fighters. But lower intensity, longer duration work might be called for if a fighter doesn't have a good aerobic engine... as the aerobic engine is what fuels recovery between bouts of kicking, punching, grappling, etc.

Thanks guys. I'm not actually training to become a fighter, I just want to get stronger and be able to outlast other people in class. Although I wouldn't mind getting good enough at no gi BJJ to do some competitions. I really love grappling. Thanks again.
