Hello everyone! I am new to this site and looking for accountability and friends traveling the same path. I have gained and lost weight a hundred times in my life. Each diet was followed by a binge that put me higher than before the diet. This is my all time highest weight and I want to make a change for good.
I am blessed beyond belief but my struggle with weight clouds my wonderful life. I am married to a wonderful man, mother to two beautiful teenage daughters, and will finish my graduate degree in November. Losing the weight would mean more to me than finishing school. I would love to feel comfortable and confident when I graduate. I would love to be smiling for the camera instead of strategically hiding in the background and avoiding pictures at all costs.
Would love some friends for motivation and support!

60 pounds isn't too much to lose! I'm on my way to losing 61 personally! Feel free to add me if you want.

Up and down in weight more times than I can count. It just isn't fair! But this time I plan on sticking to it, getting to my goal and staying there!

My story is a little similar to yours...feel free to add me!
  • omg.. congratulations on your graduate degree.. can definitely relate.. I have one 14yr old son and when I earned my degree by going to night school.. there were some days where I would question if that was the right thing... so many times I had to rush home and help my son out with one day projects and then rush to night school... but it's worth it... my university's motto is "family grow by degrees"... so here :drinker: is hoping that our children go beyond from what we have accomplished
  • I am on a journey very similar to yours, and just started yesterday. I am changing careers (previously journalism...now nursing) and have a beautiful 1year old and supportive husband at home. I am hoping that this program/app will give me great tools to succeed. I have it on my macbook, ipad, and phone...now excuse to not know calorie count! LoL.
I too am just looking to have my confidence and self-esteem back. I'd like to see a picture of myself and not see 'fat' but see myself.
One thing I've done to keep me motivated is create a board on Pinterest.com. There are great exercises, motivational quotes, and pictures of fit, strong women I post. When I feel a temptation I am going to go to my board to help me remember my goals. Two of my favorite quotes that I've pinned include, "Yesterday you said tomorrow" and "I love myself enough to exercise today".

Best of luck on your weight loss!!

Every mountain seems hard to climb but honestly getting on here or a site like this and logging is the best. After you get some time logged and you see the weight start coming off you will understand your body better than you ever have. Atleast that has been my experience.

Also, There will be so many differing opinions on here and many of them think they know it all. There is no bible, take bits and pieces and do what works for you. That's my opinion:-)

Welcome. I am also in the same boat of needing to lose about 60 pounds. I lost 30 a year and half ago but then stopped using MFP and gained about half back so now I am back at it and sticking with it.

Feel free to add me (or anyone else who wants).

I am currently doing the 30 Day Shred and am hoping to see great results when finished. You can do this. Especially if you have support at home. Makes all the difference.
  • 60 pounds is nothing comparied to what I need to lose. You can do it! God will give you strength to make it through. Congrats on going to school & keeping up w/everything! I had planned on going back to school this fall or next fall but God opened other doors for me. New opportunities are very exciting! I'm married to a wonderful man that supports me & we have 2 beautiful girls (ages 11 & 6). Feel free to add me
