Today I bought food at the college campus restaurant. It wasn't anything unhealthy - a salad buffet and some bean based foods. The problem is just, I have no idea how to log when eating out. How do the rest of you do?

I ballpark it with other similar foods in the database.

i try to estimate...i look at what's available in the database. so, if i get a salad from whole foods salad bar that has a bunch of random stuff in it, i try to break it down.

    example:

    quinoa: .10 of a cup
    4 cherry tomatoes
    1/4 cup of chickpeas
    garlicky kale: .25 cup

etc.....and there is a TON in the databse. make friends with the database :) if all else fails, estimate it yourself and "create" a new food.

This I have a pretty good idea calorie wise when it comes to salads and whatnot (exception would be their dressing lol) but I find the fat free or use alittle vinegar and oil....
