I have heard a lot of members on this site using the 30 Day Shred DVD. I was wondering if you need any weights or anything like that with the video. If you could let me know how the program has worked for you I would appreciate that :) Also, has anyone done the Ripped in 30 Days video? Do you need anything for that? Does it work well? Any advice/tips/success stories would be great to hear :) Thanks!

You need light weights...i use 3lbs. I got the dvd at walmart for $9 and a 30DS kit with weights, a mat, and water bottle for $11. I'm on day 7 and love it!!

I do the 30 day shred. I have some little sandbag handweights that I use with it. My hubby has some small dumbbells that I am thinking of going up to. I didn't know he had them though, and my friend wanted to do it with me, so she used canned food from the panty. :)

I use 5lb weights, I am not finished yet and already plan on doing it again! I have lost 10 lbs so far as well as 7.5 inches!!! I love it cause its only 20 minutes! It isnt fun or easy but its only 20 mnutes of pain and sweating, so its worth it! Very good workout for a low price!! Good luck to you!

You can get either DVD for free if you have a Netflix subscription.

I tried the 30 DS and did the first level, 10 days straight. I'm not sure I recommend doing it for 30 days straight because it made me gain a lot of water weight that was slow to come off. You can get quite sore too, so it would have been nice if I would have taken a break. The first level is a bit hard on your ankles (especially if you're overweight) with all the jump roping and the jumping jacks, which I did quite rigorously. I think I have a slight sprain so I've been taking a break before I start Level 2 :/

I use 5 lb weights to make it more challenging. It just depends on how much strength you currently have. As I continued with Level 1, it got easier and easier.

I gained weight on 30 DS (about 5 lbs), but I lost 3.5 inches in 10 days.

I'm curious to see if you give it a try! I'll be starting up again with Level 2 as soon as my ankles can handle it :)

I'm quite a bit heavier than most of the people I see posting about doing the 30DS and I made the decision not to use weights this time even though they're recommended. I plan on going through it again once finished using some small weights (like 3lb). Even not using the weights I can tell that it's working my arms quite a bit. It has yet to make me gain water weight as far as I can tell. On day four and I love it, even if I want to strangle Jillian and those other two sometimes. I haven't had any visual or scale differences (was fighting off some previously gained water weight), but my endurance is way up already.

I love both those videos!! 30 DS is awesome, but make sure you have good shoes. As someone else mentioned, the ankles tend to get sore. I'm not "overweight" and my ankles can get quite sore when I do it several days in a row. Ripped in 30 is great too, it's a tiny bit longer but the same general idea. They both make me sweat and have made a big difference in my body.
