A newbie to goal-oriented fitness

Hi

I am 41 and been on MFP for twenty days now. I am very new to this type of approach to body and fitness. I have always been fairly active and outdoorsy but with middle age, my midsection has been spreading and my weight has been slowly creeping up and has caught me unawares. I am 5'2" and weigh 144 pounds. This is the heaviest I have been even compared to when I was pregnant ten years ago! So I am on a mission. I have lost only one pound so far in the last twenty days and so I thought connecting with the community here might be helpful to keep on track and speed up the progress.
