Are they worth buying? Are you seeing better results by having one? Im looking at this one.

I think it is totally worth it. I like Polar - I have the FT40, and it has been incredibly helpful to me. Hands down the best purchase I have made with regard to helping with weight loss and fitness.

  • Yes, they are helpful indeed. There are many models out there. You don't need a fancy one, but the fancy ones are nice gadgets. :)

My heart rate monitor is amazing and love it. I don't exercise without it. I have a polar with a chest strap. I don't know anything about the one you linked but I would choose one with a strap personally.

I absolutely love mine I bought. It makes everything so much more accurate so you know exactly how many calories you're burning. You'd be quite surprised to see the differences from what a treadmill tells you vs what the heart rate monitor says. Or any other exercise equipment for that matter. Mine is called a Polar FT4F Heart Rate Monitor Watch. I payed around $80 for it online at amazon.com The band that goes around your chest is pretty comfortable and I usually don't even notice I have it on while working out. Good luck and I hope you find something!!
  • I think it is totally worth it - I bought the Polar FT4 from Bodytronics.com for $58.79 (using promo code POPO), I did a lot of research on here before hand and most people agree that the calories burned that MFP show are usually off, they seem to be generalized where the HRM is connected right to you!! I would say def. buy one, it makes me workout a little bit harder when you are actually seeing the calories that you are burning!! :flowerforyou:

I love mine! I was over estimating my calories burned and am more realistic with my food calories now.

I used mine today for the first time. Yesterday, I would have thought I had a 600-calorie burn. In reality, I only burned around 230 for 50 minutes of exercise. I guess that right there is as good a reason as any to invest in one. If you're used to logging big burns, be prepared to be shocked, though. :)

Don't buy the Mio.. Simply because it does not have a chest strap and won't be accurate.

Look into the Polar FT4.. Only 10 dollars more on Amazon and will be more accurate.

I got mine from Walmart for about $50 and I love it. I can't believe I lost without it.
