I broke a rib....<<ouch!!!>> and can't workout. I wonder if anyone has advice or can motivate my spirits. I feel blue and discouraged.
I was doing so darn good too! I do not want to backslide.

Help!

Are you allowed to do some walking? That would be good just to keep you active.

Yes, but VERY little for at least a week and a half. (10 days down doc says). I tried a little today and it killed me. The more I rest the faster it will heal.
Thanks for the reply by the way. Good advice to keep active anyway I can.

Just adjust your calories for the missed workouts for a couple of weeks till your bac at it. You will be fine. I promise your wheels won't fall off in that time. I had to lay off exercise for a month for Rotator cuff tendonitis, that stuff HURTS! If anything the time off will probably give your body a needed rest period and when you come back, your workouts may be that much more effective. Hope this helps, and rest those ribs!

Yep - take it easy - you want to heal as fast as possible. Adjust your calories down and take heart that healing actually burns more calories. As soon as you're able, take up slow walking and take care of yourself.

    very gentle hugs.

I'm sorry you're hurt. I can relate. I'm currently on the DL for a torn MCL. I am a dancer, paddleboarder, cyclist and spin instructor, so I have gone from burning 700-1200 cals a day to NOTHING. I am used to eating around 2000 cals a day.

    It stinks.

I reset my goal to maintenance and my activity level to sedentary. It has been hard to beat my appetite down, but I'm doing ok the last couple days.

After 2 weeks of doing nothing, just this week I have been able to burn about 250 cals a day for 4 days doing some modified strength training and "sit-SUPing" on my paddleboard, so as not to move my left leg laterally. I have been in a much better mood this week and even this little bit of calorie burn has helped.

My advice would be to put yourself at maintenance and sedentary so you don't struggle with trying to lose right now. Give yourself some time to heal and as your mobility gradually increases, see what you can do. Maybe after a week or two you will be able to walk, do squats, something with legs only.

Keep your focus on meal planning. healthy lean foods are even more important when we're sedentary and don't have the luxury of exercise calories.

    Chin up and good luck.

    blessings.
