I feel doomed!

I have been dieting for about a month and a half now and I have lost around 30 lbs.
My family was planning on taking a vacation to Disney World in May for my sisters graduation and I was not attending due to financial issues (too dang expensive!). Yesterday my mom surprised me telling me she bought me a plane ticket and added me to the reservations.
I have been to Disney World before and while I know you get a lot of exercise and you don't have to eat all that often (saves money), but they have the Deluxe Dining Plan which includes 3 meals (Entree and Dessert, each meal), and 2 snacks A DAY! and if you don't use the meal tickets they expire. And I have been going over the menu's for some of the restaurants and a lot of them have some healthy options, but that is still a LOT of food and I don't want to over-eat.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to make it a bit easier? A few people have told me that its vacation, enjoy yourself and eat what you want. Which I plan on doing but in moderation, I plan on enjoying a nice meal or two and dessert but not stuffing myself until i cant move and keeping most of my meals on the healthy side.

You're not doomed at all! This is such a great opportunity. You will be walking ALL day, and you don't have to worry about food one bit until its time to eat. Yay for you! So you make the healthiest choices, and don't you DARE worry about wasting food! You are more important than the food. So make your choice... eat some of it, and share with someone else who looks interested in whats on your plate! Throw away whatever is over what you intend to eat. It is really hard not to always clear your plate... but if you didn't get to decide how much to put ON the plate, don't fall into the trap of eating it all. Not hungry at mealtime? Don't eat, so what? Or get a side salad and some fruit. And the twice daily snacks... surely fruit will be available, but if not don't worry. A friend of mine ended up having so many extra snack vouchers (family of six) that they would sometimes just stop a passer-by and invite them to choose a free snack from the cart! FUN!!! Enjoy yourself and don't fret. Choose things that you know are healthiest (hard to do when everyone else is eating pizza and cheesecake!). And just leave what you are not truly hungry for! With dessert... just get your favorite thing, have a few (3 or 4) fantastic bites... then watch how quickly others will offer to finish it for you! What a great blessing that your mom surprised you with this trip...enjoy it! And don't forget that a lot of what will be offered will be high in salt.... try to drink only water, but don't be surprised if you find you have retained water. This trip will be so much fun!0

i am a native floridian who lived in orlando for 10 years. (moving back in august and SOOO EXCITED!)
i wouldn't purchase the deluxe dining plan, but that's just me. i would eat a healthy breakfast before getting to the park, i'd snack on fruit when i needed a snack (they have plenty of fresh fruit stands all over the park), and i would try to watch what i ate if it was a counter service restaurant, as the counter service restaurants are nothing special.
that being said, you are on vacation and disney has some really awesome, one of a kind restaurants, so if you are doing a table service restaurant for dinner, i would just be mindful throughout the day, and then enjoy my dinner. you will be doing a ton of walking and standing around, plus it's very hot and humid, so you will be getting plenty of exercise and should manage to maintain (if you don't lose weight).
some of my favorite restaurants are The Garden Grill at The Land in Epcot. (revolving restaurant and delicious food! they grow the food and while you eat you get to see where they grow it!)
50's Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios (so delicious, really fun!)
California Grill- Top floor of the Contemporary Hotel, amazing food (requires reservations, books up in advance unless you sit in bar area, sweeping view of Orlando!)
if you eat at one of those restaurants, i'd just enjoy it. if you eat somewhere else, mainly the places where you get the food at the counter, i'd stick to something healthy as they really aren't that special.0 -
The world won't stop turning if you don't use all your food vouchers, so enjoy your holiday, eat when you're hungry and bin (or give away) the rest!
Enjoy it though, life's too short!0 -
How long will you be on this trip?
It's ok to allow yourself a few days and if you go over on calories, don't stress about it. When the vacation is over, you go back to what you were doing. Life can't end because you are on a diet!
My wife and I just got back from a trip to Vegas. We went with the intentions of doing the best we could. We brought our own food for breakfast and snacks. We both came back a little over a pound heavier ... and that's ok. We're back doing what we were doing and we'll take it off again. It's a minor setback, but it was worth it because we allowed ourselves this treat and had such a great time!0 -
I think you have the right mindset, not afraid to indulge a little, but no need to eat it "just cause it's there" and go all out crazy. In the end, the meal is paid for, whether it hits your hips or the trash....i'd say to eat with your family, but don't be afraid to try to order healthy and keep your portions of the eating out meals small, filling in during the day as needed with fruit or healthy snacks you've brought along.......and drinking a full glass of water before i eat does actually help me feel less "starved"....
And of course, if plates arrive and are huge, don't be afraid to scrape half that off into a box or empty plate and have it removed asap. I think a lot of the trouble is likely to be more portion related, especially if you are choosing healthier menu options....you'll walk enough to compensate a bit...but it wouldn't hurt to keep the restaurant food portions smaller most of the time IMHO.
Good luck and have a blast!0 -
I don't drink much other than water and unsweetened iced tea anymore, soda just doesn't really interest me anymore and IMO the unsweetened tea tastes so much better.
And I know everyone saying that its okay to not eat all the food and what not, but I grew up being taught not to waste any food so that is hard to change. Normally when I go out to eat I can just take it home and it makes another meal, that usually doesn't work there.
And there is fruit sold in Disney World, but only at very few locations!i wouldn't purchase the deluxe dining plan, but that's just me.How long will you be on this trip?0 -
if you are already on the plan, than just eat and be mindful. don't eat what you are too full for, and give it to another family member who might still want something to eat.
also, the last time i went to disney (i have an annual pass, so i would go at least 1x a month) i never had a problem finding a place to get fruit. you can also bring water and food in, so maybe you can bring healthy snacks and water in.
i think you are stressing over nothing. enjoy your vacation, have a great time, just be mindful of what you are eating. and remember, you didn't put all your weight on in two weeks, so two weeks isn't going to ruin your entire effort as long as you are still mindful.0 -
