suggestions about a new bike?

hello all! I'm thinking about getting a bike to ride back and forth to work on to a) save gas/money and b) add more exercise to my daily life. I was wondering if any of you have suggestions about any bikes that are decently priced. Thanks for any input!

That's just *one* manufacturer.

My best recommendation is to go to a local bike store and talk with them about your objectives. They should be able to match you up with a good bike that meets those needs, then they can properly size the bike for you, etc. Also, it can help to build a relationship with them for future needs such as routine maintenance, etc.
