Apple sizes

The food database lists apple sizes by diameter. I was wondering if anyone knew the sizes by circumference. For example, I just ate half of a 9"-circumference apple. Was that a medium or a large apple?

    c=2*Pi*r
    D=2r

    If you know the circumference, divide by Pi to get the diameter.

    EDIT: I totally just nerded on you. Another solution is to just weigh it. MFP should have entries by weight.

    Well, 9 divided by 3 = 3 inches diameter.

    But I weight my apples before I eat it, then subtract what I don't eat to get the number of grams. Then search for (or create) an entry that allows me to go by grams instead.

    Don't take this the wrong way, but you're my kind of guy. But I am not into guys! :)

    Just sayin! :happy:

    I actually did that (not sure I should be saying on a public board that I actually did that), but I wanted to be certain - I didn't know how the diameter had been measured, taking into account apple shape, tape measure vs. ruler, etc. Thank you, though!

    Maybe we should do the volume by displacement or something instead, given the variables in height, width, depth of stem, etc. :laugh:

    Seriously, though, I just grab the apple, look at it, go "meh, looks medium to large" and choose on the higher end. I guess I may not be taking this seriously enough. :ohwell:
