Bit confused ....

Hola ... this site is helping me a lot, however I am still a bit confused.
If I used to eat stuff like bacon barms, take away's pizza and drink wine most nights etc, and do no exercise. And now I eat cereal, light lunches and salad for my main meal and exercise 45 mins a day (gym cardio and weights or swim solid for 45 mins, and I have on one day combined both) drink green tea instead of normal tea and plenty of water and only drink vodka and slim line tonic once a week at the most - surely i should experience a big difference in weight loss?
I have only been at it for a week or so, and dont see much difference in weight loss - although I am noticing a shape change.
Am I just being impatient or should I have expected to lose more than 1lb this week??
I am really rubbish at this stuff and needless to say that is why i weigh 12.6stone
Any advise would be grateful.
Cheers

yes, i think you are being impatient. 1 pound a week is the healthy amount to lose, and if you lost your 1 pound in a week, you are perfectly on track.0

sounds like you're doing well..making healthy food choices and exercising....one to two lbs a week is good healthy weight loss. Some weeks will be more, some you might not lose at all...its a process. be patient and be proud of yourself for taking on the challenge.0

Give it time...
I know after a big workout I don't see the scale move until a day or two later. I think it has to do with water weight and whatever else. A pound a week is really good. Stick with it and you will see results!0 -
you're just being impatient. very impatient. you'll see changes but they take time.0

I am in the same boat basically. The difference is I have been doing P90X for 2 weeks now. I have noticed increased strength, but with that I have also noticed a weight gain of 5 -7 lbs. I my calorie intake has been between 1500-2000 per day....I burn approximately 600 calories per workout and I workout everyday.....Super discouraged and perhaps impatient as well...0

You've made lots of changes in food and fitness ~ give your body time to respond. Be sure you measure because we don't always see the loss in pounds/stones, but in inches/centimeters. Also, make drinking water your priority - drink half your weight in ounces of water every day - you'll be amazed at the difference in how you feel. And remember, this is a lifestyle - not a "diet" - healthy weight loss is the goal which doesn't necessarily equal speedy weight loss. Be patient, love you body, treat it well and keep it hydrated.:flowerforyou: :drinker:
edit: 1/2 your weight in ounces of water = if you weigh 200 pounds, drink 100 ounces of water.0 -

I've wondered the same thing though. If I used to eat SO MUCH crap, how come I didn't gain a pound a day?!0

Your body adjusts to your lifestyle over time . . . therefore, even when you change to a healthy lifestyle, it will take your body a while to adjust to that, and "trust" that you are doing the right thing for it. Keep it going -- this is a marathon, not a sprint.
Also, make sure you are eating enough calories during the day -- some people make the mistake of cutting too much out right away, which definitely puts your body into a defensive, survivalist mode.0 -
Cool, thanks everyone. The impatience is a definate, as I wanted to feel skinny ha ha but I guess it is correct and a complete change of lifestyle not a diet or a fad.
I have miles and miles more energy already, in fact I am driving my other half insane as I bounce home from work at 10.30pm and want to start doing things when he has been resting on the couch since he got home from work!!
Well I am at work and should be doing something that isnt on here. So see you all soon!
Also - i agree with the if i used to eat so much crap how come i am not double what I am, the body is a complex thing, i cant believe it has tollerated some of my bad (old) habits for so long.
