I would love to start running now but I weigh around 270lbs and I am fairly new to exercise. I have never gone for a run before (I walk 7km easily though) and I am very hesitant as I dont know if I wiegh too much to start running.

I would love to know where everyone else has started out at ... weight and fitness in general. Also, are there any tips for a newbie runner??

Just take it gently at first and then as you lose weight and get fitter, you will be able to run further. To start off, walk for a minute, jog for 30 seconds, walk for a minute, jog for 30 seconds. Stretch out the jog bit by bit over the weeks.

The C25K program seems to be very popular with many people on MFP and it also appears to get people to eventually run that 5k - it seems to work for sure. You can download it from i-tunes.

Just don't overdo the running bit, take it step by step.

You can do it!!!! If you want to run, get out there and run!! Start slow, do some run/walk intervals, push yourself and stay strong!! Listen to motivating music, have faith in yourself! Don't let your weight stop you, we are all capable of running and if you truly want it you can do it. =D I have faith in you!!

**push yourself but don't hurt yourself, of course**
