How long before you hit the plateau?

Hi everyone, I need some help here I am in my week 4 but my first in MFP, and despite having looooooots of weigh to loose, I have only lost about 3 pounds.I was just wondering if I was in a plateau last week when I didn´t loose anything for about 5 days...just wondering. Have everyone hit a plateau at some point?

I've been here about 5 weeks...in my first three weeks I lost 10 pounds (mostly water weight though, I think!) but since then I've only lost two pounds! Although...I only have about 10-15lbs to lose so I'm kind of expecting it to be a slow process0

I think a plateau is when you don't lose ANYTHING for several MONTHS! I only lost 3lb a month the first few months, it came off faster when dropped wheat and went low carb (18lbs in the next 2 months) then slowed down again. As long as you are losing something every month you aren't in a plateau!
I'm still losing but some months only 2lb a month (though I'm entering peri-menopause so TOTM is majorily playing up! )

If you are eating correctly, exercising correctly you should never hit a plateau, especially not at week 4.0 -
I hit mine at about the 9 month mark. I went from 205lbs down to 170lbs. That was done with only cardio and cal counting. I am now trying out weights which, in the long run, I may gain a bit. We will have to see.0

I hit a plateau for 3 weeks starting on week 2 ..I started tweaking my diet a little and I also stopped eating all of my exercise calories that I thought i had to eat all of them for fear of starvation mode.. Since I don't eat them all back now, plus i have a heart rate monitor I've been doing much better.0

i really dont like the scales, when you think that your entire digestive system is as long as a tennis court there is quiet a bit of storage space for food and waste which is going to make your weight vary, try and get hold of a pair of body fat calipers or use a tape measure and record your sizes once a month, i find it gives a true representation of what you are really losing0

I had no plateaus until the last 10 pounds. They were the most difficult to lose. However, plateaus are normal and do not mean you are doing something wrong. Every body is different and you have to find what works for YOUR body. Just switch things up a bit ... mix up the foods you eat, change your exercise routine and intensity, etc. Continue to work hard and keep a positive attitude. It WILL happen!
