So, i am a part of a monthly hiking group. we've always done pretty easy hikes. in two weeks we are doing "little devils stairs" in the Shenandoah valley. Its a strenuous hike and i need to prepare. any tips on what i can do at home over the next two weeks to train but not overtrain so that im exhausted? all tips are welcome!

I'd go with strength training. Squats, single leg Leg Press, Calf Raises, ankle exercises with a 'rubber band'. Those were the things that kick-started my running.0

thanks for the tips! i was kind of thinking the same things. there are a few "hand over hand" areas, so we shall see, im thinking some push ups (and attempted pull ups) are in order too!0
