Odd Running Shoe Question

I'm a female with really wide feet. They just don't make many running shoes that come in a wide. At least that I can find and afford. Would it be crazy to buy running shoes for men? Would it be safe? I don't want to hurt myself. What do you all think?

Thanks in advance!

Please help me out. I wanted to start c25k tomorrow.
  • I have running shoes that are meant for men :) (they're pink, so I don't know how male they are, haha...) But they are great :) I only bought them because they were cheap, but they work fantastically :) They're a pair of Nikes, and honestly? I can't see the difference between them and "women's" shoes. I think mostly it's just a colour thing, despite mine being pink.

I also have wide feet and have gone to running in a men's shoe. While the women's shoes seemed OK, they just didn't feel right. So... the guy at the running store brought out a pair of ASICS Gel Cumulus and a pair of ASICS Gel Nimbus shoes. The toe box is wider, and they feel great. No issues whatsoever! Just make sure you go to a running store to get your feet analyzed and fitted properly!
