How do you prepare steel cut oats?

You have to boil water, add some salt, and then add the oats. I believe it's about 3 cups of water to one cup of oats, with just a pinch of salt (I always eyeball it, so I'm not completely sure of that, but I'm pretty sure it's around there). Anyway, you need to bring the oats to a boil, then reduce heat, and let them simmer for 10-20 minutes, depending on how chewy you like them. I like to really let them sit, because I like them mushy and soft.0

You could also cook it overnight in a crock pot! There are many recipes out there that mix it with different fruits and spices, but I tend to make a batch of it plain and then split it into individual portions to heat up in the morning. I usually just eat mine with blueberries, but it is good with agave (or honey), nuts, or whatever else you want to mix it with!0
