exercises ok to do while pregnant

So I am currently 4.5 weeks pregnant (YAY!) and just wondering what exercises any of you moms have done while pregnant. Up until this last week (its been kinda busy) I have been using our elliptical and doing a Zumba DVD. I would like to keep doing these because i already have them and enjoy doing them, well at least the Zumba. It should be ok to keep doing these right? well i know its ok to do the elliptical but im not 100% sure on the Zumba. My first appointment isnt for another 2 weeks, so I just wanted to know if any of you guys had any suggestions/recommendations.

I'de actually like to know too just in case since I tend to Zumba and a fairly intense aerobics class, I was wondering if that could cause any issues.0

First off, congratulations! Definitly ask your dr for their recomendations, I know my dr for both pregnancies said it was okay to maintain at the same level, but not to try and gain strength/endurance. I think the only concern with zumba would be balance later on.0

My doctor always told me I could maintain my pre-pregnancy level of fitness. I have a friend that did zumba until she was 37 weeks pregnant.0

Hi There,
This is not really the place for this sort of advice. No one here knows your medical history and cannot safely comment on what you should or should not do. Please, ask your doctor. He/She is the best person to give this kind of advice. There are a range of issues to consider with pregnancy including overheating, softer ligaments, a change in the centre of gravity, dehydration if you are sick and your pre pregnancy fitness, just to name a few.
I am a PT and advise my clients to first see their doctor before I will advise on any exercise program during pregnancy.
