I just purchased the Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer. It was $21 at amazon.com. You should be able to get free super saver shipping. I've only used it a few times but so far no issues.

so...I know you have a dollar limit...but if you can afford a fitbit for 99.95 it is the best. You can synch it to MPF and it credits your steps as excercise. I have had lot of pedometers in the past and this by FAR is my best investment. Check it out at fibit.com
