Need to learn to stop looking at the scale

So, I weigh every day, just to see where I am....and YES, I know it fluctuates and you arent supposed to do it..blah blah blah...BUT if I am having a good week, it generally goes down all week..UNTIL i get to my weigh in day, which is Monday Morning. Now, mind you, I generally try to be good on the weekends, and when I am, I sure do expect better things on that scale that Monday morning instead of it going up. Which is what happened this morning. pretty discouraging, but I logged that weight non the less. I know if was from sodium, as that was through the roof over the weekend due to something that I made....
Sigh.... I am just going to have to learn to leave it alone during the week, period.!
How does everyone else manage to NOT jump on the scale, every day to keep you accountable. Maybe I need to hide it under the bed.

Hi I am scales addicted everyday until 2 saturdays I weighed making me 2lbs lighter than my tuesday weigh day so this week ive cut it down to 3 times still I am as its made me 1.5lbs heavier today than yesterday and if I weigh that tomorrows weigh in Im actually 0.5lbs heavier and I have stuck to this 100% been very active and my sodium looks fine
Im like you maybe we should start a group up Help for scales addicts0 -
I'm not going to be helpful in my answer. BUT I have to get on the scale every day, or at least every other, just like you said it keeps me accountable.
Frustrating though - Tuesday is my weigh in day and I am up 1.5 lbs from yesterday.
I just started the 30 Day Shred (completed D4L1) and I read most people gain a bit within in the 1st week, so I am hoping that's it.0 -
oh i can hid mine all i want, i still grab it out daily... i have had a plateau since Jan, then last week i had a break though... for 1 day,lol then up for the next then back down, so i thought ok i am working my way down gradually. my body is just adjusting itself... well today was also my weigh in day ( i did mondays so i would be better/ good over the weekends) and i was up 1 lbs! so back to the same plateau weight i have had for 2 months now! ugh.,.... I find i like to see how much body reacts to different foods daily, then if i notice a big difference i try to avoid doing that again... or avoid that food, etc... I started 30 ds, 14 days into that and up 1 lbs and no inches at all yet i am ready to throw in the towel with this weight loss stuff. 4 months so far for 8lb loss... * sigh*...0

NO...do not throw in the towel!!!! 8 lbs in four months is def. better than gaining that 8 lbs, or still having it there!!! Have you tried upping your calories a bit to see if you can break the plateau...I have always heard that works.0 -

Calorie counting never wrks for me but Im going to give it a couple more weeks its getting the right level of calories for yourself thats the tricky bit But dont jack it in x0 -
ya i did that about 4 weeks ago now and i lost 1 lb but that was it, now i'm stuck there for almost 1 month now. so i upped my exercise to include 30ds again to give me another kick start and nothing....... i have gained 1lb, so back to my stuck weight since Jan. don't know what to do but i am very discouraged. I gave myself 5 months to loose 15 lbs and i can't get past 8...... and i have 21 days left till me goal date0

i do measure everything, i do eat my calories back to net 1200 calories a day.... i did up my calories from 1 lb loss of 1200 cals a day to .5 loss to get 1310 cals a day. i added 30ds into the mix from my reg cardio...i do know i need to eat more veggies and drink more water but i didn't think that would stop me from looosing all together?0 -
I never eat my exercise calories maybe try eating a little near to mfp calories not net? This is hard work I think Im having a bad loss week this week and ive been so active hope someone can help you xx0
-
well it is pretty much the same or close. i have 1310 calories a day and i burn anywhere from 160-300, so not such a huge difference, it means usually i get a yogurt or something extra a day,lol... but if i don't eat them then i am under 1200 calories a day which isn't good as i hear....0

water will absolutely make a difference. What about your salt intake. Is your diary public? maybe we can have a look at your diary. Have you taken your measurements instead of relying on the numbers on the scale...you could be getting smaller and more toned, thus not losing on the scale. It is just NOT about the numbers on the scale.0

sodium is at a low level for me,90% of the time... i measured myself this am and no change. i don't have my diary public as too many different opinion come out and then i get way too confused...0

I weigh myself pretty much every day. I don't let it discourage me though. If my weight goes up a little, I'm encouraged to work just as hard as when it goes down a little. Why don't you change your weigh in day? If your weight goes down consistently and the only thing messing up the number on the scale is sodium over the weekend I would make my weigh-in day Friday mornings!0

I had this problem too, till my scale broke! When it gave me an "Err" reading and kept giving me that reading, I was like =|....it's long gone now, though! Probably the best thing to happen, it was very freeing.0
