Hey Guys! Anyone have a great taco recipe? Obviously, I could just grab some chicken, veggies, etc, but I wanted to see if anyone had an interesting spin on the typical taco. Thanks in advance!

I don't know if these even count as tacos but my mom always used to put some lean ground beef, sliced tomatoes, lettuce and swiss shredded cheese in a burrito tortilla. I loved it. I'm not sure how many calories but I think it could be 300 or less done right. The tortilla itself is only 120 calories if you get Old El Paso brand.
Sorry that's not very specific but maybe it could give some ideas.0 -
I don't have a real spin on one, but when I was growing up, Mom would add chopped kosher dill pickles to tacos. It may sound strange, but it's really very good! She never added any seasoning packet to the hamburger either. She'd get the meat with the lowest fat content, and drain real well, then rinse. We also used Frank's Red Hot Sauce, and reduced fat sour cream. She always used the corn tortillas fried briefly in vegetable oil, and patted well to remove excess grease. Just writing this makes my mouth crave one!0

This more a burrito/fajita but it is delicious. My boyfriend and I do this a lot. We use either a sirloin or a beef tenderlon. This weekend we had a precooked tenderloin from Christmas in the freezer. We thawed it out. Sauteed some green peppers and onions and added the meat, I seasoned it all with a little cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper. I am cutting out gluten for health reasons so I mix it all in a bowl. Mixed the meat and veggies with guacamole, fresh salsa, black beans, rice, light sour cream, and a little bit of shredded cheese and some lettuce. If you stick to one serving (which is very filling) it is actually a decent meal calorie wise since you would only have 1 oz or less of the meat. The only calorie rich stuff would be the rice and beans, guacamole, and cheese but since you only use a tiny amount for one serving it isn't bad at all and it is sooo tasty!0

We use Yves Veggie ground round in place of the beef- you'd never be able to tell the difference! Sometimes we use a can of drained lentils, and cook it up with an onion and taco seasoning...another great option. Try making a taco salad- delicious!.0

I have a metal mixing bowl that I put a flour tortilla in to shape it like a bowl and bake it in the oven. Then just make a taco salad. But tonight I think I'm going to make a taco baked potato.....0

My boyfriend and I started using 99% fat free ground turkey in place of beef sometimes. We still season it like we do beef, but no one can tell the difference. We use hard shells (less calorie dense) and top them with our home made pico (diced roma tomatoes, cilantro, minced garlic, diced red onion, diced jalapeno, salt and pepper to taste and a whole squeezed lime), vermont white cheddar and lettuce. Not a wild spin on tacos, but it works with almost any meat. For our vegetarian friends, we use black beans in place of meat.0
