Eating before a workout

I was wondering if someone could advise me on this. At the moment I wake up at 5:15 and then go to the gym, I get there by 5:30 and work out until 6:45 usually. Once I get home, I have a fiber one english muffin, a dry fried egg, and 2 slices of turkey bacon for breakfast, and I am full and happy. The problem is, I am finding that I have less energy at the gym on weekdays when I get up at 5:15 than on weekends when I usually slack off and go around 2 or 3 (usually about an hour or so after eating). Obviously this is a result of me not having eaten all night, and dehydration from the sleep. I tried eating a bit before I went to the gym in the morning, but I think it was too soon before, because I just felt nauseous. I detest yoghurt so thats out. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could eat? Is there any food thats quickly digested? What about smoothies? Are liquid calories processed any quicker?

I always have a protein drink prior to my morning workout. It doesn't make me feel nauseated at all. You could sip on your drink as you're driving to the gym, that way it's not a big gulp all at once.0

Whenever I go in the morning I grab a bagel with some light cream cheese. I've tried a few different things before an early morning work out, and for me this has been the best. Anything liquidy like protein drinks or yogurt make me kinda nauseous if I have them before working out, but everybody's different.0

If your tummy is really sensitive early in the morning drink water on the way to the gym and nibble on some whole grain crackers or something to give you some carbs to work off.0

I'd go carbs before, protein after so wholemeal toast with peanut butter before and a protein drink after.0
