Hello

Does anyone out there do any of the Les Mills Body Balance classes? My Pilates class has moved to a time I can't do, and I'm missing the stretching (although not the pain from my muscles!!! ), and I thought these classes might be a good alternative. So, what are they like?

Thanks!

Erika

I do a Less Mills class called "Body Flow" - its a combination of pilates, yoga, and tai chi. It's a great stretching and calming workout, but in an hour class I burn around 250 calories (according to me heart rate monitor), while during a run, or a workout with strength training I burn 500-600 an hour.

    Check it out!

That sounds like the same thing, just with a slightly different name. I go swimming for my cardio (mostly) and walk a bit, but I'm looking for something to stretch me out, as ever since I hurt my back a couple of years ago I've been very tight, and need to work on my core strength, so I'm not too worried about burning calories with this class (although even a few are very gratefully received  )

Here's a link describing the classes:

I did this class for the first time yesterday. Owwwwww! It was much harder than I expected. The instructor kept yelling 'you're here to change your bodies and if its not hurting then its not changing, and 'The reason you have to breathe deeply is to stop yourself puking from the pain'.

Hmm, I think I'll try a couple more and see if it gets a bit easier. To b e honest i thought I would be a lot stiffer today, but its not too bad, although stairs are a bit of a challenge!
