oatmeal/grain carbs before cardio or after?

hi, i was wondering if it makes a difference to have carbs after a cardio workout?? i usually like to go to the gym on an empty stomach, i'll drink black or green tea for some energy sometimes and then i go about my run.. when i get home i like to have oatmeal or whole wheat bread with pb toasted, with a protein shake on the side.. does it matter to have carbs after??
