Hi,

I'm Zara. I'm 26, from Manchester UK. I've been experiencing gall bladder problems for 2 years! In and out of hospital with infections. Was due to have a gall bladder removal. Before hand I had a MRI scan showing shadows on my liver. Been moved to s specialist liver unit. Now I've been informed I have 2 tumours. Benign but big enough to be cutting off my blood vessels, so the bloods not flowing around properly and its causing so much pain, along with gall bladder pain. Like nothing you could ever imagine. I'm having a liver resection (operation to remove tumours and sections of the liver) and my gall bladder removed Thursday. Anyone experienced this? I've been told its most likely cause is my contraceptive pill. Any of them can do this. Please look into safer methods. How did it go if you or someone you know has had it done? I'm worried, but want to know about things so I can deal with it... Any advice much appreciated!

  • Coincidentally I do know someone who had this done. Hers was not due to birth control though. My friend had this surgery in January, 2011. The surgery went well and she hasn't had any more problems. She had no history of any liver or gall bladder problems and wasn't much of a drinker. She said the surgery was painful (it was her first) but recovery wasn't bad and she felt so much better. She is 20+ years older than you and did well so I am sure you will get through this without any trouble. So glad you have it scheduled finally!

Thanks for your response. I expect it to be painful anyway. That I'm not looking forward too though. Good to hear she's 20 years older and she's recovered well and also that recovery was good. Do you know how long recovery was? X
