Apologies if this has been posted a billion times before, but I'm at work and don't have much time to research.

I recently expanded the parts of my nutrition I was tracking on here to include sodium and sugar, and (no surprise) I've been waaaaaaaaay over on both. I concentrated on reducing the sodium and have already seen a huge difference on the scale even in making small changes (3.2 pounds this week, biggest loss in a single week since starting!), so decided to look a little more carefully at the sugar also, and am perplexed. I have three fruits planned for today (fresh pineapple, a Crunch Pak of organic apples, and a grapefruit), and those three things alone blow away the sugar goal MFP set (31 for the day.)

Is this really too much fruit for a day, sugar wise??

if it's coming from fruit and you're not eating excessive amounts of it it's generally not considered a big deal. But keep in mind, sugar is still sugar, natural or not, so you do need to watch it. I generally aim for 1-2 servings of fruit in a day, 3 is kind of a lot if it's happening all the time. Try replacing one with raw veggies instead.

Thank you for your response. I did decide to put away the grapefruit.

Interestingly enough, I was much less hungry today. . .

How much sodium are you consuming now? I need to watch that more.

I eat more fruit than veggies some days. I guess I'd better watch that too.

i keep an eye on my sodium and i can totally tell when it's too much for me--so so thirsty.
it's true that recs are for 2 fruits daily and 3 or more veges. i often have more fruits than veges but i look at it as if i pick a banana to eat, that's much better than the cookie i was gonna grab. kwim?
so, i don't sweat it much--looking at my whole progress and which habits are sticking and which need more commitment from me.

Sorry for not responding sooner, still getting used to this!

I just put in my planned food for today and am at about 3,000mg of sodium, 498 over my goal. This, is a good day.

The sugar thing is driving me crazy, it seems impossible to keep it down. I was over before I even entered any fruit for today (hoping there is less sugar in the pasta sauce I'm using than what was available in the tracker, didn't know the brand.) Striving to get there should keep me away from the huckleberry cordials my co-worker brought back from Montana today though. . .
