lifting "heavy"

I have been lifting for over a year now and enjoy weight training more than cardio! I am curious about this lifting heavy style of training, will I really lose inches and body fat by lower reps with a higher weight?!?! Appreciate any feedback!

p.s. I usually lift middle of the road doing between 12-15 reps
