Plank question

I have recently started doing planks and I love what they are doing for my abs...I exercise at home without benefit of a trainer, so I watched some youtube videos to find out the correct way to do them and I THINK I am doing them correctly; however, I am experiencing some lower back pain during the exercise itself, though not afterward. As soon as I finish the plank, I go into the child pose (yoga) for a full minute to recuperate. I'm just wondering if it's normal to feel this lower back pain (which does interfere some with my concentration and keeps me from holding the position longer), or it's a problem with my form. You exercise gurus out there...thoughts?

Well the plank strenghtens your entire core so your lower back is included with that, chances are its just tight or weak.. just make sure your hips aren't dropping when you do them and as you get stronger your back will too and the pain should get less and less0
