Here are my stat's from my past 2 distance runs. On average, I'm running around 9:30 a mile.

*mile 2, 3 and 4 were ran around the Washington monument, and each red light, if caught, is around 60 seconds, so it added to my time.
mi Pace (min/mi)
1 9:40
2 10:55
3 11:32
4 10:48
5 9:44
6 9:31
7 8:46

My question: what should my timing goal be for a 10k? What is realistic? I'm trying to be realistic.

I would say set a personal goal (I run with others) of 58 minutes for 6.2 miles or 10k. That's on average, 6.4 MPH. That's pretty fast. 9:22 a mile. What are your thoughts? Experiences? I want to train to run farther after this. What's my best plan moving forward to achieve this?

Hey I think that your goal is great. Minute or two at the time.

For me it works when few days before my race I run a distance that's slightly longer than my race.
When I had my 10 k race I run 3 days before 8 miles. Then next day 3 and then 2. I do not do warm ups before my races bc your muscles suppose to be nice and tight instead of stretched - which can cause injury.

So I have the mental picture that oh I run 8 miles. This 6.2 is nothing. And then you don't even know when it's over.
