Blisters, Weights and Gloves?

I'm only on my 7th day of lifting and the weights are killing my hands already. I thought I could push through the pain but today blisters and calluses started forming.

Am I doing something wrong or is this perfectly normal?

I'm thinking gloves are the only solution, right? I have no idea what brand/texture/material to look for. I would love to hear your tips or suggestions... Thanks guys!
