What Counts as Exercise

I have seen several people log things such as cleaning light, moderate, or vigorous and walking a dog as exercise. I always seemed to think that those were just part of life, unless one was to go jogging with a dog, etc. I'm in college and take the stairs where ever I go and work in a library with three floors. I can easily walk up 15 flights of stairs and somedays several more than that. Would any of the walking upstairs be countable as exercise like cleaning is or would walking upstairs be considered something normal like walking around a grocery store?

You'll get all kinds of answers. Generally, your daily routine should be accounted for in the Activity Setting here.

Planned exercise that is aerobic or uses heavy resistance for an extended time would be "Exercise".

Don't fall into the trap of buying food with every little exercise you do. It won't work, and is exhausting to keep track of this type of activity. Keep it simple.

When I log walking, I use the speed that happens to have the dog walking "attached" to it but trust me, I'm not walking a dog. My dog hates going for walks. I swear he's the anti-dog sometimes

I only count 'deliberate' exercise like cardio. I do count walking if I am walking for exercise rather than just picking the kids up from school (I tend to walk much faster when I'm on my own!)

Personally, I have my exercise set at sedentary, because I can stay at the computer ALL DAY. And since I'm at home, I don't even have a commute! So if I go for a walk, or do something for a decent length of time that breaks a sweat, like shoveling the drive way, I may count that. Or vacuuming, because oddly enough, I can break a sweat doing that! But to each their own. If it's working, keep recording as you are, if it's not, then maybe be more conservative. Just my two cents.

Exactly. It's amazing how complicated that simple wisdom seems to some people!
