Paleo Diet with or without Crossfit

Is anyone on here following the paleo diet? Specifically crossfitters?

I've been doing CF for about 3 months now and after gaining close to 10lb (which i would assume to be muscle since my measurements are about the same) I'm looking to drop all that and more. I've been doing (and also cheating pretty badly) the paleo diet for about 4 weeks now, but realistically I should count this week as my first REAL week since I've been watching and not really cheating...

Any feedback would be great!

No experience here. I would encourage Paleo for Athletes if you decide to do it.

Relatively new to site. What is the Paleo diet?

Basically it's the "caveman" diet. No processed foods, lean meat, lean poultry, fish, nuts, fruit, vegetables (w/ some exclusions), etc., no grains, no dairy, no sweets. I must say that since I've started it (even though as I said before, I'm a notorious cheater) I have more energy, I feel better, and my body's functioning better...I'm cutting down on the red meat to see more weight loss though...

Thanks for the info. My question to you is: Is this a jump start to lose weight? If it isn't can you build a new lifestyle on this diet? Don't know what you are looking for. Good luck.

I'm looking to build a lifestyle on it. I'm sure there will be more cheat days in the future but since I like the way I'm feeling and my body's reacting to it I may make it a permenant thing. It IS only a few weeks in so I may be jumping the gun, but I'm still going to keep it as a goal. Many people that I know on it swear by it.

Paleo + crossfit, if you're going to go off the reservation, you may as well dive in head first.

I Crossfit and eat mostly Paleo. Here's another link for anyone interested.

I'm not sure Paleo & Crossfit will aid in losing weight, but definitely in inches. Just a 30 day half hearted challenge last month yielded 2 inches off my waist, 1" off my hips, and a 1.4 lb weight loss.

Personally I find a "Primal" lifestyle easier and a little more forgiving than pure Paleo.

    Great link @cbarber9 Thanks!!
I started on the Primal Blueprint yesterday so it's nice to see simple graphic on the plan plus I love the quote at the top of the page:
    80% Nutrition + 20% Exercise = Look Great Naked!

Personally, I would not recommend the Paleo diet unless someone has a lot of grain allergies. Most health experts say that whole grains and beans are good for us, so why eliminate they from your diet unless you really have to?

I do more of a primal diet so I can do yogurt and cheese. For me...eating too many carbs doesnt sit well because I am Insulin Resistant...and the carb bloat can be up to 4 pounds for me. My body treats carbs way different than most others out there...

I try to stay within 50-100 grams of carbs..which mostly consist of fruit and veggies. Once in a while..if I do bread...I do whole grain...but at the end of the day..you have to do whats right for your body...

I am thinking about trying out the Paleo lifestyle starting here in a few weeks. Right now I'm in the research phase. I don't do crossfit but have been interested in trying it out. I"m at my goal weight so now I'm really focused on toning and building muscle. What exactly is the difference between the Primal and regular Paleo. I guess I haven't heard of Primal?

My husband and his frirnd (our family doctor) do Crossfit workouts and he follows a paleo diet. It is basically lean meats, fish, vegetables, nuts. I have to say though, he has started going more Primal so as to be able to incluse SOME full fat dairy.

@Foxworth28 The main difference is that Priaml allows cheese, and dairy (cheese is dairy. I know)so is a little easier. But both say no grains or beans....to me it's much easier than when he was Vegan!!!!

Healthgal...I am by NO means trying to persuade you or anyone one way or another. Not my style. I am not a Paleo nazi. But since you asked why people eliminate grains I thought I'd link this for anyone interested.
