Long Armed & Tall Ladies - blouse shopping?

So I'm not 'tall' exactly (5'6.5"), but my arms are LONG. As an example, my arms are the same length as my hubby, who is 3" taller than I am. I think my torso is proportional to my height, so it's really just my arms that are way off.

This wasn't really a problem until I got fit. Before, I wore oversized/baggy clothes because I thought they would hide my trouble spots. Hoodies were my friend.

Now, I'd like to start dressing myself properly. But I'm running into trouble with long-sleeved shirts. If buy for my waist size, I'm a medium, but if I buy for my arm length, I'm a L/XL. I've worked too hard to bury myself in clothes that are too big.

So ladies, where do you find shirts with long enough sleeves? Do you buy larger and have things altered? TIA!

  • Yeah, most of us aren't built to wear clothes off the rack, unfortunately. Buy the shirts that fit your arms, and then have them tailored. They will look even better than the clothes most people DO wear off the rack because they will fit you and your body perfectly.

Thankfully, spring and summer will be here soon and this will be a non-issue for you!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the warmer months! Maybe I can find some good deals on quality long sleeved shirts now that the season is almost over to offset some of the tailoring costs.

My little trick is 3/4 or elbow sleeves. Those dont look weird if they fit a little higher on my arms like long sleeves do. But yes - nice tops Id buy up a size and have altered
