Curves for Women???

Has anyone tried Curves? I would like to get back into a gym atmosphere so I can do strength training but I don't like feeling like I'm at a meat market while in a regular gym. Also, I haven't been in a gym in way too long and I just had a baby (5 months) and would probably feel uncomfortable for a while.
*Does it work/Did it work for you?
*Would you recommend it?
*Do you have to work out by appointment since it's circuit training and/or did you have issues hitting all the machines? (crowded)
*Anything else you can think of I may need to know?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give advice/feeback on this topic.
