The Truth about Exercise

Did anyone watch the program on BBC2 (UK) called The Truth about Exercise?

When they were talking about NEAT and the presenter burning an extra 500 cals a day just moving about, would involuntary movement (from medical condition) be classed as NEAT too? .. its making me wonder how many calories I burn from just daily activities getting dressed, cooking, typing and all muscle twitches/spasms etc from waking up around 7am to going to sleep around midnight. (but not including 30-60 mins on passive trainer or wii, an extra 500-800cals)

I've been around 1200 most of the time except week before monthlies when I around 1400-1600 due to extra cravings (but exercise to compensate)

I saw it - thoroughly recommend others watch it too. The basic point about Neat would be yes, all movements would count - the idea is that if you move more, your blood fats fall which is very good for you. No point thinking sitting on your butt all day and the 'compensating' by going to the gym - your body wad designed to be on the move...

It was also recommending everyon pushes their body to it's limits for just 30secs 3tomes over and do this 3 tomes a week .

I know you realise this, just in case others missed it.

I wouldnt go too far down the 'how mNy calories am I burning' route unless you are concerned you are under eating (go see a doc if so) - that specialist wAs much more concerned to see people move for the other health benefits thN for caliri consumption reasons...

Sorry about all the typos (hard to edit on the phone app) and to others try watching this on the BBC i player web service - very interesting and stimulating especially if your main motivation is health not 'gym corset/body'

It would be useful to know how many I'm burning so I know how many I need to maintain. It's hard to tell as due to having extended and more frequent monthly cycles I'm spending more of month in water retention at the minute so its hard to work out when gain is water or too many calories or not enough when boys is still carrying extra water and doesn't show until a week later!

I thought about HRM but wasn't sure if it would work as I'm sat in wheelchair most of the time

Nope, a HRM wouldn't work because it's only accurate for cardio. You would need a Body Media Fit or Bodybugg.
